Applications of CVD diamond

CVD diamond plate is used for semi-finishing, finishing, super finishing and continuous cutting of ultra precision cutting tools. In addition, the CVD diamond is also used for other high-tech applications (such as diamond dresser, wire drawing die, electronics, optical window, heat spreader and gem stone industry, etc).

Benefits of cvd diamond plates for cutting tools

– Because the concentration of atomic hydrogen produced by arc discharge is relatively high, the CVD tool blank processed by the DC arc plasma jet also has a higher thermal conductivity than the tool blank processed by other methods even at higher grown rate. This shows that CVD is obviously beneficial to heavy high-speed cutting operations.

– The CVD diamond tool is made with CVD diamond blanks without any binder, sharing the same surface smooth finish as the natural single crystal diamond.

– The working life of CVD diamond cutting tools are 100 times higher than that of hard alloy.

Advantages of CVD diamond plates

The case of CVD diamond plates

An Australian professor: The nitrogen content is 100ppm HPHT, which is higher than other customers require. He feels that high nitrogen content HPHT can be achieved, high CVD purity and low nitrogen content, size 2X2X2 thickness

Moresuperhard: In fact, HPHT cannot reach this thickness, and CVD is finally recommended.

Professor Australia: The CVD growth rate is a few microns per hour, which means that this 2 mm thick sample needs 27 days to grow,

Moresuperhard: CDV technology is mature, and the growth cycle can be about one week. If the nitrogen content is high, the growth rate will be accelerated.

CVD parameters

Crystal phase 111: It is grown on the 110 crystal seed, and then cut according to the 111 crystal phase

Polishing: 6 sides can be polished, generally the upper and lower sides can be polished. After 6 sides are polished, it is difficult to find 111, 111 is the upper and lower + 2 sides 111, the other 2 sides 110

Color: Nitrogen content 100ppm, somewhat similar to coffee color
