1. Principle of Electroconductive Grinding

Conductive grinding is a processing technology that combines the principles of electrolysis and mechanical grinding. In the process of conductive grinding, conductive grinding wheels play a key role. This type of grinding wheel is composed of a conductive matrix combined with abrasives. Common types include metal bond diamond grinding wheels, electroplated diamond grinding wheels, copper-based resin bond grinding wheels, ceramic silver-infiltrated grinding wheels, and carbon bond grinding wheels. The type to be selected depends on the specific purpose.

2.Scope of application of conductive grinding

Conductive grinding is an ideal solution for the processing of difficult-to-process materials and is suitable for the following scenarios:

High-hardness, high-strength materials: such as cemented carbide, high-speed steel, titanium alloy, stainless steel, nickel-based alloy and magnetic steel, etc.
High-precision parts processing: cemented carbide tools, plug gauges, rollers, wear-resistant bushings, mold planes, stainless steel injection needles, etc.
With its unique advantages, conductive grinding is widely used in mold manufacturing, aerospace, medical equipment, automobile manufacturing and other fields.

3. Advantages of Conductive Grinding

Compared with traditional mechanical grinding, conductive grinding has higher efficiency, lower grinding wheel loss, and the processed surface will not produce grinding burns, cracks, residual stress, processing metamorphic layers and burrs. In addition, the surface roughness of conductive grinding is usually low, generally in the range of R0.63 to 0.16 microns, and can reach up to R0.04 to 0.02 microns.

4. Processing strategy of elrctroconductive grinding

In the conductive grinding process, in order to improve the processing accuracy, sometimes a conductive grinding wheel with pure mechanical grinding capability is used. In the rough machining stage, most of the machining is completed mainly by relying on the high efficiency of electrolytic grinding. Then, in the finishing stage, the electrolytic power supply is cut off, and only pure mechanical grinding is relied upon to remove the remaining machining allowance, which can significantly improve the machining accuracy.
